^ Two hours after we met ^
It all began on a beautiful March day in Breckenridge, Colorado...
I was skiing with friends from Atlanta, while David was doing the same with a crew from Nashville. At some point, I split off to ski with my friend Lauren, who had come up from Denver for the day. Not long into our morning, Lauren mentioned that her husband, JB, and his friend, David, were on their way to meet us.
At the base of Peak 7, JB and David skied up alongside us. Within seconds, David made his first move—offering me a piece of beef jerky. And just like that, our adventure began.
We skied together for half a day, making small talk on lifts and in lines. I was immediately drawn to David’s boisterous personality and how he made me feel like I had known him forever—though I had no clue what he actually looked like under his helmet and goggles.
A few hours in, David ended up with my number—completely by accident. He grabbed my phone to start a Spotify SharePlay session, and as soon as our phones touched, they automatically exchanged contact info. Technology made it too easy for him!
After a great day of skiing, we went our separate ways, but I hoped it wouldn’t be the last time I saw or talked to David. In fact, I was so sure that I came home and told my best friend, Olivia, “I met my husband on the mountain today.”
The next morning, I woke up to a text from David, and the rest was history...
A week later, we met halfway between Atlanta and Nashville in Chattanooga for our first date. The following Friday, David flew to Atlanta for the day to take me on a second date. The past year has been full of standby flights (for David - thank you, Spencer!), late-night FaceTimes, long drives (for me), fun trips, postcards back and forth, and reminders of the Lord’s faithfulness.
So many details of our story can only be traced back to the Lord’s handiwork, and we couldn’t be more thankful for His timing in bringing us together on a mountaintop in Breckenridge. We feel so grateful that God has chosen us for one another and for the great gift of glorifying Him in marriage.
We can’t imagine starting this next chapter anywhere else or with any other group of people. Each of you has played such an integral role in our lives, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
